This book is the third edition of Studies in Outdoor Recreation by Robert Manning and it is aimed at illumination of recent research on different aspects of outdoor recreation through an update to the literature. The current version also extends earlier editions with a chapter on the meaning of place for outdoor recreation studies (Chapter 13). The book is a tremendous contribution to the studies of outdoor recreation. It is both a textbook for students and a literature review on recreation issues. Along with representations of basic concepts and recreation-related issues, every single topic or study method is accompanied by a review of the scientific literature. This gives a historical perspective to each particular case, as well as allowing the reader to trace changes in understanding of the subject or developments in the phenomenon. Such an overview is supported with practical implications and managerial advice. The book contains 14 chapters.
