Lessons from the Exodus Elders

Spiritual growth is a lifelong process. Senior adults need biblical models for continuing the process of spiritual growth and development. Old Testament elders, such as Moses, Joshua, and Caleb, had three common elements in their spiritual growth and development: faith, prayer, and sacrificial service. These elements correlate with Erik Erikson's desired outcomes of the adult psychosocial development process: fidelity, love, care, and wisdom. Senior adults can continue to grow and develop spiritually as they live lives filled with faith, prayer, and sacrificial service to the end of their days on earth.
