This Special Issue of the Journal of Microwave Power and Electromagnetic Energy comprises significantly expanded paper versions from the 11th Ampere International Conference on Microwave and Radiofrequency Heating, which was held September 3-6, 2007, in Oradea, Romania. This event is becoming a traditional European meeting for scientists and engineers concerned with the development and application of new methodologies for the solution of scientific and technical problems involving the use of eletromagnetic fields in industrialrnheating processes and the microwave heating of materials. This was the most recent AMPERE EUROPE biennial conference, with attendees from all over the globe. Nearly 32 technical papers were reviewed for possible publication, representing papers from more than 120 articles presented in the conference. These manuscripts were carefully reviewed by several reviewers to ensure that all manuscripts were original and represented significant contributions to the literature. Sixteen papers were finally selected for publication in this Special Issue of JMPEE. It is our hope that it will stimulate novel and exciting ideas to further this field.
