STUDY ON HOSPITAL WASTE MANAGEMENT IN MEDICAL REHABILITATION CLINICAL HOSPITAL, BAILE FELIX

摘要

The article presents a retrospective study in a health unit with beds, regarding the waste management, the collection of wastes from medical activity by type of waste. The study was based on working materials as recorded sheets of the waste quantities during the period between 2011-2014 and registered with weighed quantities of waste. The data were statistically processed and interpreted, aiming at the evolution of the produced and disposed waste quantities, the need to improve the degree of mass media information to educate the population and the creation of a model of efficient waste management framework program resulting from the activity in the hospital. The results of the study indicate that the waste generation is the indicator that best illustrates the extent of the interaction between the human activities and environment, and usually follows the trends in consumption and production. Through the implementation of a waste management framework program, it is expected that the impact of waste management on the environment and human health will be reduced significantly, altogether with the reduction of the prevalence of infections caused by inappropriate handling or uncontrolled waste disposal.
