There is growing interest in informal science learning and particularly in the role it may be able to play to complement formal science education. Learning Science in Informal Environments: People, Places, and Pursuits provides readers with one of the first reviews of literature available on this topic. The book offers organizing frameworks for informal science learning, describes research across informal science learning settings, age groups, and time spans, and offers recommendations for advancing informal science learning research. Based on the contributors' diverse disciplinary backgrounds, the book draws on informal science learning literature from science education, psychology, mass media, informal education, and other fields.
