GSMA Advances Environment-Friendly Industry

GSM Association (GSMA), an industry organization that pursues the proliferation of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) system for mobile phones worldwide, recently announced new policies that will give emphasis on environment protection.rnOn November 18, 2009, the GSMA introduced the Green Manifesto, a public commitment that aims to protect the environment from the hazards of using mobile phones, in particular, targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emission. Furthermore, the GSMA has teamed up with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, to provide financial help to mobile phone operators of developing countries in building fixed stations that use renewable energies.
