Italy, alongside France, is the country where the scientific and social movement for degrowth (decrescita in Italian) is most developed. Partly this is due to the networks of academic exchange that connect the two countries and the fact that Serge Latouche, one among the first to coin the term decroissance (degrowth) in France disseminated the idea early in Italy. The author of this book, Onofrio Romano, together with Mauro Bonaiuti and Marco Deriu, are the main advocates and writers on degrowth in Italy. It is a pity that due to language barriers their work has not yet reached English speaking audiences.
