From the International Academy of African Business and Development to the Academy of African Business and Development: Making Africa a Better Continent to Live and Do Business With

This time last year, when the Executive Committee of the IAABD asked me to form and chair a constitution review committee, I did not know that I will be here today speaking, as your President, about the rebirth of our organization. Before further elaboration, please allow me first to thank Profs. Felix Ayadi and Jacob Musila who enthusiastically accepted to join me on this committee and Prof. William Darley who provided ex-officio assistance to the committee. On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would equally like to thank all of you for giving us the mandate to lead our beloved organization in the next three years and approving the new constitution, one of the highlights of which is the name change. Allow me also to acknowledge our newly elected members of the Board of Governors: Profs. Felix Ayadi, Tidings Ndlovu, Robert Rugimbana, and Lettice Rutashobya and departing members of the Executive Committee: Profs. Kofi Dadzie (President), Jan-Eric Jaensson (VP Communications), and Tidings Ndlovu (Executive Secretary) and former President, Prof. Chris Eyinda. Finally, I thank the Conference Chair and Co-Chairs, Profs. Ulingeta Mbamba, Lettice Rustashobya, and Esther Ishengoma and all members of the Local Organizing Committee for hosting a successful and memorable conference. The University of Dar Es Salaam Business School is now among the very selected group of institutions that have hosted this conference twice. As all things seem to come in threes, I am sure I speak on behalf of all our members in promising to come back again.
