Predator engages hit-and-run motorbike team in Afghanistan

AUS Air Force MQ-9B Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used a Hellfire missile to attack a group of insurgents inrnAfghanistan on 4 April.rnAt a location near Qalat, a group of insurgents mounted on motorbikes had attempted a hit-and-run shooting at a coalition patrol, unaware that Reaper was in the area and monitoring the operation. The missile killed two gunmen and wounded a third.rnThe UAV subsequently tracked the enemy personnel back to a nearby cave. Using a GBU-12, it destroyed the motorcycles; then, using a GBU-38, it hit several enemy fighters in the open. An F-15E Strike Eagle destroyed the cave complex withGBU-31sandaGBU-38.
