Bargain hunting

Bond prices were relatively unchanged last week, which is in itself unsurprising as we head to mid-August, but that is not to say that accounts have not been looking to do business. Contacts say there is interest in some bonds that had sold off in recent weeks, such as the periphery and CMBS, but accounts have also been looking for more stable prime bonds too -in general with little success. One trader said that people were searching for Dutch and UK prime RMBS but were not getting the size they wanted. He said offers had been lifted in Dutch paper in the €1m-€2m size, but that clients actually wanted €5m-€10m clips. Some prime UK bonds were listed for sale, but in small size. Three tranches of silk road featured among these, ranging from just €200k up to £2.9m.
