Much better than expected April payroll numbers released on Friday have set the tone for another bumper week of issuance in the US market in the week ahead, with syndicate desks calling for about US$20bn-$25bn of transactions in the pipeline. Nonfarm payrolls surged 288,000 in April, the US Labor Department said on Friday, compared with Wall Street's expectations for an increase of 210,000. The news topped off a week of strong data, and sent Treasury rates on a wild ride, with the 10-year touching its year-to-date low of 2.58% before settling back up at 2.6% just before midday.
