Sponsors make quick exit from ICE position

Credit Suisse cemented second spot on US ECM league tables by securing the coveted sole books role on a US$1.37bn sponsor block in NYSE owner intercontinental exchange (ICE). On Wednesday night, the bank reoffered 5.7m ICE shares at US$240.30-$242.80 versus a US$247.72 last sale, before quickly settling on a final price of US$241.00. The deal priced in quick time at 6.20pm, or about an hour after it was launched. The block is almost certain to rank as the last big ECM deal of the year. ECM bankers had been milling around ICE since its US$5.2bn acquisition of Interactive Data from sponsors Warburg Pincus and Silver Lake in October. The sponsors received US$3.65bn in cash and 6.47m ICE shares. The deal closed last Monday, freeing the sponsors to sell their ICE stock into the market.
