Long bonds pose major test

Yield-starved public debt investors that have snapped up a record number of long-dated euro bonds this year could face painful losses if previously ultra-low rates begin to rise. Sustained rock-bottom yields have pushed investors further out the maturity curve in 2016, leading them to buy unprecedented amounts of longer-dated debt.
