Opportunities for natural extracts from side streams

Dutch technology supplier Phytonext sees opportunities for winning natural extracts out of side streams from frult, vegetable and plants. The selective Phytonext extraction method makes it possible to win micro-nutrients such as vitamins and antioxidants from natural plant material in a commercial way. Examples of Micronutrients are carotene from carrots, lycopene from tomatoes and lutein from kale. Valorisation of side streams is high on agenda of food processors, because of the current focus on food waste. Better use of side streams helps to cut cost or even generate income. Side streams from the food processing industry, from grower to processor, are currently being fermented.
