Ageing processes are complex, multi-factorial and affect all the organs, but skin damage remains the most obvious mark of passing time and reflects health and well-being. Over the years when one is getting older the skin loses its elasticity, forms wrinkles and its pigmented lesions start appearing. In our ageing population, it has become a challenge for researchers and dermatologists to delay the ageing process and signs, not only for aesthetic preoccupation but also from a medical point of view, to prevent and find new therapeutic approaches for age-related diseases such as neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's) and metabolic disorders.
