Doubling the global share of renewables by 2030

The intergovernmental renewable energy agency, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) was established in April 2011. Its mission is accelerate deployment of renewable energy and the scope of the agency includes hub, voice and source of objective information for renewable energy. Some 159 countries are engaged and it has 104 ratified member countries. The mandate is sustainable deployment of the six renewable energy resources - biomass, geothermal, hydro, ocean, solar and wind. The headquarters of the organization is located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and it has the innovation and technology centre -IITC at Bonn, Germany. The Director General of the IRENA is Adnan Amin.
