Problems and Suggestions to Improve Reading Habits of College Students in Tamilnadu

In the present study an attempt has been made to examine the problems related to reading habits of the students in libraries and a few of the suggested remedial measures. A total of 1212 students from 32 colleges were served as the sample for the present study. The data was collected by structured questionnaire which had components on various problems and suggestions to improve the reading habit. Some of the important aspects to improve the reading habit are reading more than newspapers (56.93), journals and magazines (17.33), reading more general books other than text books (15.84) and text books (9.90). Respondents expressed that they are improving their reading habit using the facilities in the library.
