Germany-based intermodal specialist Talke Logistic Services has just unveiled a new state-of-the-art container terminal in Huerth, near Cologne, that will not only boost company productivity but also help it better serve the needs of customers along the entire supply chain This past June 5 and in front of more than 200 assembled guests from the world of business, local authorities and the international press, Talke Logistic Services officially opened its new container terminal at the company's headquarters in Hiirth. Constructed at a cost of approximately €4m, the terminal, Talke explains, has been designed "first and foremost to increase the company's capabilities when it comes to container-based logistics concepts and to expand terminal capacity" at the western German site. With a total surface area of 25,000 m~2, the facility has space for handling up to 800 loaded containers in addition to 200 empty units and will now take over duties from the Hiirth location's existing depot, which "can barely cover the company's own needs due to rapidly increasing demand".
