Cruise season in Copenhagen hits record high In 2017, some 850,000 passengers have arrived at Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) on board cruise ships. This is a new peak for the Danish port. According to CMP, a total of 325 vessels moored in Copenhagen last year, 153 of which started or ended their voyage there. The new passenger record was, among others, due to growing ship sizes. The Danes expect further growth in the coming years. This year, they anticipate 338 cruise ship arrivals in Copenhagen with some 875,000 passengers, plus nine calls in Malmö with a total of 10,500 guests on board. Due to the booming cruise business, a new terminal is being built in Visby, with the capacity for two cruise ships anchoring at its 340-meter quay. The opening is scheduled for the end of April. As an effect, capacity is expected to almost double there within this year. According to information provided by CMP, Visby awaits 89 arrivals with almost 85,000 passengers.
