Singapore garners its water

With the clock ticking on its vital water treaties with its water-rich neighbor, Malaysia, Singapore is racing to upgrade its water and wastewater plans. One of Singapore's water purchase agreements will expire in 2011. The other agreement will lapse in 2061. Environment and Water Resources Minister Dr Yaacob Ibrahim said the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System would be Singapore's water reclamation superhighway, linking the many tributaries of public and private sewers.
