On fundamentals of fuzzy logic and soft computing and some applications

摘要

Fuzzy logic and soft computing evolved over years in directions of their theoretical foundations and applications. This special issue contains seven papers, which are extended versions of the papers selected from more than three hundred ones presented at the 11th World Congress of International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA2005), held in Beijing, China, July 28-31, 2005. The main theme centers on the fundamentals of fuzzy logic and soft computing, with five papers forming the first part and addressing several important issues of mathematics of fuzzy set theory. The second part of the special issue consists of two application papers, which were recommended by a selection committee for the Best Student Paper Awards at IFSA2005 Congress. All of the seven papers have been re-reviewed by at least two referees in a standard review process according to the procedure of the journal Fuzzy Sets and Systems. The focal points and major contributions of the papers are described as follows.
