Jonathan Hayes is the author of Wo Lilies or Violets, one man's story of )VA years spent as a USAF fighter pilot during the turbulent Vietnam-era years and the time immediately following. Jonathan describes what life was like for an average line 'jock'. He gives a first-hand account of peacetime and wartime flying, ordinary sguadron routine and life off-duty. Hayes explains: "I have tried to be as honest as I could in my descriptions. This is fully intended to be a 'warts and all' narration. I would not have bothered otherwise. There are plenty of military memoirs out there that skip over the less-than-pretty aspects and the non-flying parts of the job. There were also times of pure beauty and I've tried to do justice to those too.
