Visit to Reichswald Cemetery

I'm planning a visit to the Reichswald Forest Cemetery Kleve, Germany, on December 21 to remember my uncle, Fg Off Edwin 'Ted' Charles Maul. It will mark the 70th anniversary of his Lancaster PB354 'EA-G' crashing in the area, along with another Lanc flown by Gp Capt 'Ginger' Weir as they bombed the Mittelland canal near Gravenhorst, Germany. Ted and his crew from 49 Squadron based at Fulbeck, Lincs, with 5 Group were on their 12th operation, part of a force of 138 Lancasters and six Mosquitos. The canal was breached and a 30-mile stretch drained of water, stranding around 60 barges. Gp Capt Weir was the only survivor of the two aircraft lost.
