The nose-section of Douglas DC-3D 42970 is under restoration in Finland. Owned by Finnair airline captain Antti Hyvärinen, it will be completed in the 1950s colours of Kar-Air. The 1946-built aeroplane was initially sold to Air France, with whom it flew as F-BAXA. It later moved to Lebanon, before serving in Finland with Kar-Air as OK-VKC. Later leased to Swedish airline Sverigeflyg, it was retired in 1971. Earlier plans to convert the airframe into a coffee shop did not come to fruition, so it was instead displayed on a road between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna, before being installed in a Swedish amusement park.
