"Moving" has been the operant word over the last month for our household, and in spite of the ancient proverb, our relocation has brought all modeling activities to a complete standstill. Yet, interestingly enough, some gains have been made and some things have been learned that apply directly to modeling. One of the things that became evident in the move is how much can be accumulated in just under 13 years in one place as interests in different facets of the hobby cycle through―all accompanied by their own supplies, materials and support equipment. The jars of microfilm I prized so highly at one time for indoor flying reside in close proximity to the 65% nitro fuel that I'm using to break in my new Cyclon. The scale documentation that was so painstakingly collected for dozens of potential airplanes, lies dormant in file cabinets that have boxes of plans for outdoor power and rubber duration ships resting on top of them. The special mixture of thinned Duco cement for gluing the dihedral break of an EZB is in the same box as the economy size squeeze-bottle of "Elmer's Carpenter's Glue." In short, everything is stacked, stashed, bundled, wrapped and totally incongruous to any structured or specific modeling activity. Eventually it all will get sorted out again and I'll pick up where I left off―finishing two new Nostalgia ships for this year's new contest season. In the meantime, our relocation has supplied its own collection of reminders and tips that may in turn be useful to you at some point in time.
