Right to strike

I'd like to reply to the letter published in your last issue from Graham Bradbury. As a former firefighter, you'll know that Fire Brigades Union members dedicate their professional lives to protecting public safety. As a result, none of us wanted to strike over pensions and retirement age, and the FBU had been negotiating for over two years before strikes were called. When the government in Westminster implied it was willing to return to the negotiating table, we of course suspended strike action. However, when it became clear they were bluffing, industrial action resumed.
