Safety fest

The ever-popular Glastonbury Festival takes place later this month. Last year, the festival hosted a population of more than 200,000 visitors, becoming for its duration the second largest city in Devon and Somerset after Plymouth. Such an enormous site represents a major challenge for all the emergency services engaged in ensuring public safety throughout the event. Unique challenges presented by Glastonbury's 'pop-up city' result from the size of its population, the festival goers' frame of mind, and the fact that all performers, crew and paying festival goers stay in tents, caravans and motor homes.
