The Italian approach to professionalisation of psychotherapy

This paper aims to present a framework of how psychotherapy and counselling are provided in Italy. Historically significant but complex political and cultural dynamics have paved the way to what psychotherapy is today. The paper outlines the provision of therapy in the public and private sector and the training of psychotherapists coming from the professions of psychology and medicine.
