摘要

In January 2011, over half the Australian state of Queensland was flood-affected - an area equivalent to Germany and Belgium combined - including large parts of its capital city Brisbane. Much of the population had bought into the idea that a large dam built upstream 30 years ago would flood-proof the city and, after ten years of acute drought, the concept of flooding was absent from the city's collective psyche. In the lead-up to the floods, there had been a prolonged lack of discourse about flood-resilient urban design within the local built environment professions.
