U.S. REGULATIONS AND CHINA'S GROWING CONCERN ABOUT AIR POLLUTION DRIVE RECORD-BREAKING YEAR FOR FUEL TECH

In March 2005, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued the final Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) requiring leading nitrogen oxide (NO_x) emitters regulated under the State Implementation Program (SIP) in 28 eastern states to reduce their NO_x emissions even further than they had under previous regulatory regimes. EPA followed that action in June 2005 with the promulgation of a related regulation, the Clean Air Visibility Rule (CAVR), calling for nationwide reductions of NO_x and other air pollutants that impair visibility in national parks and other federally protected areas.
