Producers to pay for battery waste

Ireland has announced that battery manufacturers will be held responsible for disposing their products. Under proposals published on 3 January, stakeholders will have until 20 February to submit observations on the draft regulations to implement the EU directive on Waste Batteries, which will take effect on 28 September 2008.
