Amid the toughest of times for the construction industry, some wonderfully sustainable buildings continue to come to the fore.rnWith non-domestic buildings accounting for 18% of the UK's emissions, and demolition rates of about 2-3% a year, around 60% of the buildings that will be standing in 2050 have already been built. So, the low-carbon challenge is not just about building more sustainably, it's about making our existing stock perform better too.rnWhat we hope to have brought together for this special supplement is some practical examples, opinions and case studies examining, not only excellent building design, but effective building management too.A
