摘要

Having been involved in the two previous Energy White Papers it was interesting to watch from the sidelines as to what key actions and messages would emerge from this White Paper. My feeling is that while the ambition of the plan should be applauded - the detail and some of the announcements have been made before and suggest a lack of new thinking.rnThe report predicted that by 2020 more than 1.2M people will be in green jobs, worth £3T; 7M homes will be involved in energy saving schemes; the UK will importing less than half of the gas that it would otherwise; the average new car will emit 40% less carbon than currently and 40% of electricity will be from low carbon sources. However, with a decline in government spending, which ultimately will rely on new technologies, how are we going to make all of this happen?
