Mobility patterns and urban structure

摘要

In Mobility Patterns and Urban Structure, the authors revisit a central theme in urban mobility studies, namely the relationship between the built environment and individual travel behaviour. The book is based on the results from a recently completed research project that focuses on two European cities: Copenhagen, Denmark and Oporto, Portugal. The structure of the book is fairly rigorous and progresses logically by motivating the research, introducing the case cities, placing the contribution in a context of the state-of-the-art, constructing a methodological framework (two, in fact), presenting the results of the research and discussing their implications for practice and future research. This makes the book very easy to digest as the individual chapters add valuable contributions in their own right, while still forming a coherent narrative throughout the book.
