The funding of Australia's technical assistance to secure radioactive materials in southeast Asian countries came under scrutiny at a federal parliamentary sitting last month.rnThe parliamentary committee heard that even though Australia is not currently supplying radioactive material or equipment to these countries, it is helping them use and store the materials safely.rnSome committee members questioned why Australian taxpayers are footing the bill for these programs.rnRepresentatives from the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) gave evidence to the inquiry into Australia's relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
