Automated mines could be built in WA

Remotely-controlled mines with automated drills, trucks and trains could become reality in the next few years under a plan unveiled by Rio Tinto. In a statement, the company said it plans to deploy driverless trains, trucks and remote-controlled drills in Pilbara in Western Australia. These will all be controlled remotely from an operations centre in Perth 1300km away.
