Construction Growth Slips in February

Construction growth slowed for the second consecutive month, with seasonally adjusted construction put-in-place falling in February another 1.1 %, to an annual rate of $808.9 billion (see chart), according to the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. However, the seasonally adjusted annual rate was still 5.8% above February 2011 's annual pace. On a year-to-date basis, total construction put-in-place through the first two months of this year was $111.3 billion, which was 7.4% above the same period of last year, according to Commerce.
