PIC microcontrollers reach into 32-bit processing

Microchip's PIC32 microcontroller fam- ily brings 32-bit processing options to the PIC line of processors. Microchip based the processors on the upgraded MIPS32 M4K core, and they maintain compatibility with the company's existing line of PIC microcontrollers by supporting the same peripheral IP (intellectual-property) blocks, the same package pinouts, and the same development-tool environment.
