The sweet surprise of thinking back

Who knows what Emilio Prini, a leading exponent of Arte Povera, thought when Germano Celant, Rem Koolhaas and Thomas Demand recently set up his photographic piece Da fermacarte (1968) on the fifth floor of the Fondazione Prada? This work, fundamental in developing the concept of the body in space, was initially displayed in Bern in 1969 at the exhibition "When Attitudes Become Forms" under the curatorship of the legendary Harald Szeemann. Now this same show has been adapted and remade in Venice at Prada on Ca'Corner della Regina. Those familiar with Lucinda Childs' danced opera Einstein on the Beach (1976, composed by Philip Glass and directed by Robert Wilson) most surely welcomed the 2012 version as a pleasant surprise-trip into a timeless universe, splendidly performed by Kate Moran and Helga Davis.
