VISIONARY ARCHITECT

The Cité de l'Architecture in Paris is celebrating (20.11.2014-9.3.2015) the unique work of the architect, theorist and restorer Eugene Violletle-Duc. For the bicentennial of his birth, the exhibition looks into some of the lesser-known aspects of this multi-talented artist, demonstrating the richness and complexity of his personality. As the more rational character of his approach is more prominent, this time the more visionary side of his work is examined, showing a brilliant, hyper-productive, 19th-century man applying his vast, encyclopaedic knowledge to create controversial designs with content that is as political as it is aesthetic.
