As more and more people turn to the water as a form of relaxation to counter the everyday pressures of work, so the demand for new berths continues. It would seem that there is no sign of this demand slowing down, explains P. R. Roach, of Posford Duvivier. One of the great joys for a boat owner is being able to step aboard at any time of the day or night throughout the year. Gone are the days of tidal moorings or vertical ladders on quay walls. Better and better facilities are now being offered in new marinas, while existing ones are constantly improving. For the home based sailors security, water and electricity probably come at the top of this list, while for the visiting yachtsmen hot showers and clean toilets feature strongly.
