Functional expression of the mutants of the chloroplast tRNALys gene from the liverwort, Marchantia polymorpha, in Escherichia coli

>The anticodon of the tRNALys gene (trnK) in the liverwort, Marchantia polymorpha, was anificially converted to an amber anticodon. This mutant tRNALys(CTA) gene carrying either the intron or the C₂₇-C₄₃ mismatch at the anticodon-stem is not functional in Escherichia coli, but without both of them, it does work as a tRNALys amber suppressor.
