Diagnostic précoce de la gestation chez la vache basé sur signe extérieur : l’état des poils de la commissure inférieure

When diagnosis of gestation is early, it is important in order to increase the yield of breeding. An early and simple field diagnosis without being obliged to go through a laboratory, observing an exterior sign on a dairy cow, namely the hair state of the lower corner of the vulva, wet from mucus or dry, 16 ± 3 days after mating or insemination (2 or 3 times) has been the subject of our study; 185 diagnosis have been studied on Holstein, Prim Holstein or Montbeliarde dairy cows. The results have shown a good reliability of the method as well as a very high sensitivity (99, 2%), an average specificity (60%) and 11, 4% of diagnosis errors.
