Globaldemandforanimalproductsisprojectedtoincreaseprogressivelyduetoextensiveurbanization,rapidgrowthofthehumanpopulationandincomedynamics.Dairygoatproduction,asanoptionforenhancingfoodsecurityandincomegenerationinKenya,islikelytobenefitfromthisprospect.Essentially,goatmilkisnutritionallysuperiortothecowmilk.Althoughtheimportanceofgoatmilkisempiricallyknown,itsvaluationfromthepotentialconsumers#8217;pointofview,togetherwiththeassociatedpriceperformance,isnotwellunderstood.Thisstudysoughttoexaminehowmuchconsumerswerewillingtopayandwhatsocio-economicfactorsinfluencedthewillingnesstopayfordairygoatmilkinSiayaCountyofKenya.Multistagesamplingwasusedtoobtain131consumersathouseholdlevel.Thedouble-boundeddichotomouschoicecontingentvaluationmodelwasusedtoassessconsumers#8217;meanwillingnesstopayforgoatmilk.Resultsindicatedthatconsumerswerewillingtopayanaveragepremiumof38%abovethecurrentprevailingpriceoffreshcowmilk.Age,numberofyearsspentinschoolandnumberofchildrenpresentinahouseholdhadapositiveandsignificanteffectonwillingnesstopay.Awareness,genderandthenumberofadultsagedbetween19and59yearspresentinahouseholdnegativelyinfluencedwillingnesstopay.Basedonthefindings,programmesthatsuitthelowlyliteratepotentialconsumersnbsp;needtobeputinplacetoeducatethemonimportantmedicinalandnutritionalbenefitsofgoatmilkand,consequently,wideningmarketbaseforgoatmilk.Thegeneralpublicshouldbesensitizedontheimportantattributesofgoatmilktoimproveontheirawarenessand,subsequently,providecorrectinformationtopotentialconsumerssothattheycanmakeinformeddecisions.
