Estrés y estrategias de afrontamiento en Estudiantes de Nivel Superior de la Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero.

Stress is the force or the stimulus that acts on the individual and gives rise to a tension response. Objective: To evaluate the frequency and intensity of stress and strategies used by the students of higher level of the UAGro to face it. Material and method: A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study was carried out with 158 valid surveys using the SISCO questionnaire on Academic stress, the Stress Coping (CAE) and an evaluation of sociodemographic data. Results: The prevalence of stress was 88.6%, 43.7% presented regular intensity, the conditions of stress generated in 77.8% is the overload of tasks. The main reactions were: 12.7% sleepiness or greater need for sleep and fatigue (physical), 16.5% restlessness (psychological) and 10.1% increase or reduction of food consumption (behavioral). The strategies used was the assertive ability (13.3%). The strategies of coping with stress used was the search for social support (41.1%) and the non-used is open emotional expression (56.3%). Dependence was found with having children (Chi-2 =0 .003) and slight association in the competition with classmates (Tau-b = 0.329). Conclusions: The stress is present in students, the intensity and frequency in which it is presented and the generating situations depends on the emotional or cognitive evaluation of each person.
