Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of videoassisted hospitalizing education in liver cancer patients undergoing surgical resection. Methods A total of 75 patients who admitted in hospital for the first time and planned to surgical resection were randomly divided into the study group (n=36) and the control group (n=39). The control group received oral hospitalizing education while the study group was given videoassisted hospitalizing education. The education time, the degree of satisfaction, and awareness of health education contents were investigated by questionnaires. Results The mean education time was significantly shorter in the study group than that in the control group(P<0.05), however there was no significant difference in degree of satisfaction between the two groups(P>0.05). The study group achieved a higher awareness of ward environment and overall score of educational awareness compared with the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion In compare with traditionally oral education, videoassisted education can decreased the workload of nurses and help the patients to familiarize the intrahospital environment.
