Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between anxiety and depression and physical exercise in Senior High School Students. Methods A cluster random sampling method was used to extract 320 students from two high school in Changsha city. The self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS)were used to assess the negative emotion of students. Result Totally 300 valid questionnaires were collected. The overall incidence of anxiety and depression in high school students was 29.0% and 21.3%, respectively. There were significant differences in the scores of SAS and SDS among high school students with different frequency and time of exercise(P0.05 or P0.01). High school students who participate in physical exercise three times a week and above and with 31~90 min per time have lower severity of anxiety and depression. Conclusion Taking physical exercise can regulate and improve the mood of high school students.
