PAPR Reduction Using Companding TECHNIQUE for Multi Carrier Transmission

In this paper companding is used in addition with combined Selective Mapping (SLM) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) techniques in order to reduce the peak to average power ratio in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Using different parameters, the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction is calculated for the proposed and other techniques i.e. selective mapping, partial transmit and selective mapping & partial transmit combined. These values of PAPR is compared with each other and performance of one over another is analyzed. In this paper the companding is included to the combined SLM with Riemann matrix and PTS technique. This, modified technique is compared with other techniques discussed in this paper. The results show that for the given parameters in this paper the proposed technique gives better results. The performance of the proposed technique is increased as the number of sub blocks increases. The PAPR reduction when the number of sub tasks are two is estimated 79% and when the number of sub blocks is sixteen PAPR reduction is approximately 87 % which is minimum
