HARVARD UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR Stephen Greenblatt's most recent book examines how playwright William Shakespeare returned throughout his career to examine how tyrants took power and swept aside or seized cherished institutions of the state. While making this examination, Shakespeare, a mere playwright, had to avoid the bloody fate of those who spoke too explicitly about the issues of the England of his time.
