Driving Spaces: A Cultural-Historical Geography of England's MI Motorway

There is a minor genre of writing about roads in geography. Transport geographers, by necessity, have included roads and the vehicles that travel on them in their analyses of volumes of traffic, efficiency and routing. American cultural geographers have followed particular evocative routes in order to record the changing face of a mobile nation. Most famously, perhaps, J.B. Jackson provided an account of the road and the landscape around it as a survey of the American vernacular.
